SOIL/SITE: Tolerates poorly drained soils
USES: Planted for hedgerows, windbreaks and for stream bank erosion control
WILDLIFE VALUE: Fruit eaten by game birds, especially important as a source of food for migrating songbirds; twigs are an important source of winter browse for deer and rabbits.
FLOWERS/FRUIT: August and September - fruits are bluish in color
SEED SOURCE: New Hampshire
